California Proposition 65 (Prop 65) Notice
California Proposition 65 (Prop 65) Notice
This page provides our California Proposition 65 notice and general information for customers in California.
1) Prop 65 Warning (General)
WARNING: Cancer and Reproductive Harm — www.P65Warnings.ca.gov
Some products sold on this website may expose you to chemicals including, but not limited to, certain substances known to the State of California to cause cancer and/or reproductive harm. The specific chemicals, exposure pathways, and risk level can vary by product, materials, and use.
If a product requires a more specific Prop 65 warning, it may also appear on the product packaging, in the product manual, and/or on the product detail page.
2) What is Proposition 65?
California Proposition 65 (officially, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) is a California law that requires businesses to provide warnings to California consumers when they may be exposed to certain chemicals that the State of California has identified as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
A Prop 65 warning is not the same as a product safety warning. It also does not necessarily mean that a product violates any safety standard or is unsafe. It means the business is providing a legally required notice about potential chemical exposure.
3) Why might a warning apply to bathroom products?
Bathroom products can include multiple materials and components (for example: solid surface / resin composites, stone or mineral fillers, coatings, adhesives, metals, glass, wood or engineered wood parts, packaging materials, and hardware). Depending on the product and use, certain chemicals may be present in trace amounts and/or exposure may occur through handling, installation, cleaning, or normal use.
- Examples of exposure pathways can include: handling dust during cutting/drilling, contact with certain coatings, or incidental contact during installation.
- Different models, finishes, and accessory bundles may have different compliance labeling needs.
4) How we approach Prop 65 compliance
We work with suppliers and manufacturers to collect material information and compliance documentation when available. When required or appropriate, we provide Prop 65 warnings in product documentation, packaging, and/or online.
- We may display a general Prop 65 notice on our website and add product-specific warnings where applicable.
- We monitor regulatory updates and adjust labeling practices as needed.
- If you need a product-specific warning statement for a particular SKU, contact us and we’ll provide what we have on file.
5) Customer guidance
If you are concerned about exposure, you may reduce potential exposure by following the installation and care instructions provided with your product. For example: use appropriate personal protective equipment when cutting/drilling materials, ensure adequate ventilation, and wash hands after installation work.
